TrueType was founded in 2015 in the midst of Western Australia’s economic downturn following the end of the mining boom.
We noticed more companies were downsizing and outsourcing their shared service functions, including communications, marketing and corporate affairs. With reduced teams and budgets, we saw them turning more to external consultants and contractors during peak periods and for specific projects.
We knew from our in-house experience that larger companies would often retain agencies to provide ‘on call’ crisis and business-as-usual support, but they didn’t always get the best value from these arrangements.
We also realised there were start-ups, non-profits and small-to-medium businesses who needed communications and marketing expertise, but they didn’t have the budget to lock into monthly contracts.
We identified a gap in the Perth market for a more flexible and affordable consulting solution that would allow clients to tap into the right mix of services as they needed them.
And because we partner with other highly experienced consultants and creatives, through TrueType our clients can access many of the services found in larger agencies – including crisis & issues management, government affairs, media & performance training, brand strategy, digital marketing and visual media.
Today, TrueType continues to grow steadily through referral at a time when flexibility for us is as important as it is to our clients. Our work reflects the diversity of our client base, we thrive on applying our knowledge to different sectors, and it’s a joy to work with like-minded clients, creatives and consulting partners.
We’re also passionate about giving back to the community and our profession, and our goal is to work with more social enterprises and worthy causes.
